How do I know what class my car is in?

2024 RULES

** If you have less than 200TW tires you're automatically in class R. No need to look below 🙂

For BMW’s

Use this link and click on CLASS CALCULATOR to determine your car class https://windycitybmw.org/driving/autocross-home/autocross-rules/

For non-BMW’s

Step 1: Determine your car’s SCCA Street Class via https://www.scca-classifier.com/

Your SCCA Street Class determines your BMW Class starting points.

Your SCCA Street Class determines your BMW Club Starting Points
SCCA Class => BMW Club starting points
SS => 67 points … was 59
AS => 56 was 57
BS => 50
CS => 45
DS => 42 was 43
FS => 46 was 42
ES => 24 was 29
GS => 28 was 30
HS => 18

Step 2: Enter your starting points from above into the BMW Class Calculator found here >> https://windycitybmw.org/driving/autocross-home/autocross-rules/

Step 3: Now select any modifications you've made to your car, sans engine swaps, and go to step 4.
** If you have an Engine Swap, calc your engine swap points with this formula [weight/bhp (old) - weight/bhp (new) ] x2 = swap points.
** You'll have to add your engine swap points to your modification points to determine your overall points.

Step 4: Click "calculate" and print/screenshot your results showing your pts and final class. **Bring this to driver check-in at the event**

Step 5: When you register for an event, Select the E class below that matches your calculated class (i.e. B = EB, A = EA, etc).

Final points = Your E Class (E=everything not a bmw)
64.5+ = EAA Class
49.5-64 = EA Class
34.5-49 = EB Class
19.5-34 = EC Class
0-19 => ED

As always, final classing subject to change.

What are the general autocross rules?

We closely mirror the autocross rules of the Windy City BMW chapter with a few slights edits. You will be responsible to fill out a self-tech form. If it's your first time please indicate so on the online registration so we can pair you up with someone to show you the ropes. The Michiana autocross self-tech form can be found here and will also be available at the event. Loaner helmets are not available so you must bring your own Snell 2015 or newer automotive or motorcycle helmet.
